Susan Marino

Meet Susan Marino. In addition to her extensive experience as a nurse, she is a veterinary technician, a wildlife rehabilitator, public speaker, and author. Over fourteen years ago, she also founded angelsgate.org, a unique animal sanctuary for terminally and critically ill pets from all over the world to receive care at the end of their lives. Located formerly on Long Island and relocated to the Catskills town of Dehli, New York, Angel’s Gate currently cares for over 400 pets of all types, both wild and domesticated. The animals, with the exception of the parrots, are allowed to roam freely, though some animals are caged at night for their own protection. Dogs and cats are fed with a natural raw food diet, which a local butcher prepares especially for them. In short, Marino sees to it that her pets receive the best care and treatment in every aspect of their life.

There is no adoption fee to take in the needy pets; in fact, this organization is non-profit, and runs solely on donations from kind contributors. This incredible organization has been featured on numerous shows and print publications, including the Martha Stewart Show, Oprah, Guideposts Magazine, and Dog Fancy Magazine.

Even with all the publicity Marino has received, a group of filmmakers at FortuneTeller films want to pay tribute to her worthy cause. This group has been filming her work for the past five years, and have shot over 100 hours of footage. Unfortunately, in order for their film to come to fruition, they need more funding. Before August 15th, they need to raise $35,000 or they won’t be able to complete work on the film. Please consider donating to these filmmakers, so they can continue spreading the word about Marino’s exceptional work.

You can also help Angel’s Gate directly by shopping at the Angel’s Gate Store. It features shirts, pet accessories, hats, stuffed animals, bags, and more.

You can watch the trailer for the movie here.

I think what Miss Marion has been doing for the past 15 yrs is absolutely wonderful. Of course I do not own any pets at the moment but have been a Lab owner in the past and tried to care for my pets the best I could. I am unable to help with the film making right now but I can pray about this matter. I’m sure the funds will become available and they can finish the film. Thanks for the share!

This post hit close to home since I have pets now. I have been a pet owner since I was five. I can’t give a lot, but next payday I’ll give a few bucks.
