Dawg Business Makes Pet Care Your Business

July 19, 2010

Who knew a Rottweiler puppy could change someone’s life so much?

The author of the blog Dawg Business, Jana Rade, has likely asked herself this very question countless times. Her dog-loving husband, Jerry, brought one home one day, and the little female pup did just that. Before that point, Jana confesses, dogs were just okay, but not something she wanted in her own house. However, Jana immediately fell under the puppy’s charm and playfulness, naming her Jasmine. That was almost seven (human) years ago, and much has happened to Jasmine in the ensuing time, including many vet trips and surgeries.

I Can Has Cheezburger = You can has laffs!

March 29, 2010

I know what you’re thinking, “that doesn’t even make sense!” No, our spellchecker isn’t broken, we’re just reviewing a pets blog whose sole focus is devoted to photos of cats brought to life through the zany captions that represent what that cat just might be thinking, or saying, at that precise moment, frozen in time, and captured in a pic.

It all started with a simple grey cat with a goofy smile asking, in broken English, if he may enjoy a cheeseburger. From there, the blog, and the concept, exploded in popularity. The silly vernacular has infiltrated the Internet and our own American lexicon. There’s even an LOL-translation Bible in the works, but if you need immediate help with the lingo check out The Definitive Lolcats glossary to Learn Lolspeak — teh furst language born of teh intertubes.

Who knew captioned photos of felines (aka LOLCats) would take the world by storm? The ICHC phenomenon leaves me scratching my head and wondering, “Why didn’t I think of that?!”

If you’re already a Cheezpeep, or Cheezhead read on and find us on IHCH. If not, come and explore the wunnerful wurld of I Can Has Cheezburger and lern whut all the fuzz is abuot!

I’m finally getting a chance to review (in much more detail) some of the blogs left in the comments of my Featured Pets Blogs page! I’ve decided to simply start with the first comment and work my way down the list as time permits. It takes us a long time to review a pets blog because we don’t just glance at it, we read

It’s The Dogs’ Life

June 6, 2008

Lora’s life has, as she readily admits, gone to the dogs. She’s got a houseful and they’re not small dogs, either. She has 2 Saint Bernards and 4 Labrador Retrievers.

I think one of the reasons I enjoy this pets blog and repeatedly visit it is the awesome header image, where her two Saint Bernards are prominently featured. That’s Brutus there on the left, and his litter mate, Rufus, on the right. What’s even more impressive is that Lora does the artwork herself and you get to see more of her talent inside the blog postings!
