BISSELL Unleashes Winners in Third Annual Most Valuable Pet (MVP) Photo Contest

BISSELL Homecare, Inc. announced the winners of its third annual Most Valuable Pet (MVP) Contest. Gracey, a mixed domestic short-hair feline, triumphed over nearly 50,000 entrants to claim the title of 2010 MVP Grand Prize Winner. This year’s runners-up prizes were awarded to Chocolate Long Hair Dapple Dachshund, Rainbow Diamond; Marbled Bengal feline, Bianca; Scooter, an Old English Sheepdog; and Bear, a Huskie mix. Jamie, a Basset Hound, was also honored with an additional prize.

From January through March, pet owners submitted photos of their four-legged friends and campaigned for the title of Most Valuable Pet for the chance to be featured on BISSELL pet product packaging. The grand prize winner will also receive $10,000 for the pet cause of their choice, plus a $500 “Perfect For You And Your Pet” shopping spree. Runners up will be awarded an additional $8,000 to benefit their pets’ favorite causes.

AKC/Eukanuba Championships: World’s Top Dog

Tampa, Florida has been filled with smiling faces and wagging tails this weekend, as exhibitors of more than 150 different breeds of dog gathered together for the 2006 AKC/Eukanuba Championships. January 14-15 were the dates when the planet’s greatest dog show would crown the world’s top dog.

The Brush Prairie Cluster All-Breed Dog Show may be looking for a new place to hold this summer?s competition, should the Oregon International Air show hold their event the same weekend. According to staff from the Washington County Fair Complex, leaders of the dog show have threatened to move the show, should the air show go on, simultaneously, across the road at the Hillsboro Airport.

Mixed Breed Makes Mark in Online Dog Show

45,000 people voted in an online competition to place Tillie, a dachshund-cocker mix, as Best in Show in the NPB and Purina co-sponsored Dog Show USA. “This is a classic Cinderella story,” stated Ernie Planck, as he draped a medal and ribbon around the tiny winner’s neck. “She’s a mixed-breed rescue dog selected from 15,000 different entries. She is America’s dog.”
