Friday, June 26, marks the 10th anniversary of Pet Sitters International’s (PSI) Take Your Dog To Work Day®, an annual campaign that promotes local pet adoptions by encouraging employers around the world to open their doors to employees’ dogs for one special day. This year, Pet Sitters International has partnered with Replacements, Ltd. ® , Greensboro, NC, to host the 2009 Take Your Dog To Work Day (TYDTWDay®) Adoption Fair and Dog Day Event to celebrate the day.
The 2009 TYDTWDay Adoption Fair and Dog Day Event will be held Friday, June 26, from 12:00 noon. to 2:00 p.m. on the front lawn of Replacements, Ltd., 1089 Knox Road (exit 132), off of I85/40 in Greensboro. The public is invited to attend this free event to learn more about local shelters and rescue groups, and to meet adoptable pets looking for forever homes.
“In this economy, as families look to do more with less, adopting a dog is one of the basic, most affordable ways to bring joy to a family,” says Beth Stultz, TYDTWDay event spokesperson. “Pet Sitters International is excited to partner with Replacements, Ltd., to raise awareness about the many adoptable pets in our area and show that these ‘secondhand dogs’ can offer first rate love.”
Replacements Ltd., is the world’s largest supplier of old and new china, crystal, silver and collectibles. Inspired by founder Bob Page, the company established pet friendly polices more than 13 years ago by encouraging its associates and customers to bring their pets to work or shop. Jeanine Falcon, vice president of human resources at Replacements, knows firsthand the rewards of pet adoption.
“Personally, as someone who has adopted six pets (three cats and three dogs) over the last 15 years, I know what a difference ‘forever homes’ make in an animal’s life,” says Falcon.
“It means so much to me and our employees to be able to bring our pets to work because they are important parts of our families,” Falcon continues. “These tough economic times have forced many families to make difficult decisions about their pets. As a result there are many pets in our communities that need adoption and many pet adoption agencies that need our support. As a company that has pet-friendly policies, we will join forces with Pet Sitters International to create awareness and help find homes for those animals in need.”
With many families now unable to care for their pets, the need for pet adoptions is at an all-time high. The Guilford County Animal Shelter took in 500 more animals the first four months of this year than it did in the same time period last year; and for each 100 pets brought to the shelter, only thirty are adopted.

This sounds like a great idea of bringing the pets to work. And especially the Adoption Fair sounds great. I bet the pets enjoyed going to work more than the people enjoyed taking them. Good for everyone

This is such a great campaign!
It is nice to see PSI get more involved in this area actually. They do have a lot of pull and a great brand. If only more people would go this direction.

Thanks to PSI! Thru them, they bring the pets more useful and let the whole world show how the pets are important to us and how they can be useful on one way or another.
Also they do pet adoption, that’s great. With that program, pets will always be safe with the right person who’s going to adopt.
