How To Pick the Right Dog For You

0

by Leon Sanford & Jeff Adams

Choosing the right dog is important to you and your family. Picking the right dog for your family doesn’t have to be a difficult task, as long as you keep a few things in mind:

1.Think Space
Do you live in a tiny apartment, or a huge house with a fenced in yard? Smaller spaces tend to be better for smaller dogs; large spaces however can accommodate larger breeds. Think about your space and where the dog will be able to play before you pick a dog. Also, think about what size of dog beds you’ll need for your dog or dogs.

2.Think Time
Do you work all day long? Puppies will need to use the bathroom every four hours. If you plan on getting a puppy you need to make sure there is going to someone available to take care of it day, and night. Potty breaks will need to happen in the middle of the night as well. If you don?t have a LOT of time, you may want to consider getting an older dog. These usually will come potty trained, and can be left alone for longer periods of time.

3.Think Exercise
Your dog is going to need exercise. For some smaller dogs that can mean a quick walk around the block, or a game of catch. Other dogs however need tons of exercise. Make sure you are going to be able to keep up with the dog you select and give them the exercise they need.

Retired, she currently lives with her spoiled dog and four chickens (who are, interestingly enough, also spoiled).
