DOG DAYS in August

0

It should come as no surprise that I adore books and movies that are all about animals, feature animals, or are centered around animals. When I was little, that included reading books like Black Beauty and Charlotte’s Web and Dr. Doolittle. I feel in love with Benji and Snoopy and have continued to read and re-read classic books – everything from the Jungle Book, Peter Rabbit, and Winnie the Pooh to Misty of Chincoteague books and Justin Morgan Had a Horse. I liked the Electric Horseman and The Horse Whisperer (both the book and the movie) and to be honest animal characters have always stolen my interest. Okay, it doesn’t hurt to have Robert Redford in the movie, either. Pete’s Dragon anyone?!

I loved Marley & Me (has it actually been a decade?!) and pretty much watch any movie with pets, though admit most of them are pretty corny (especially when the animals are overly animated and talk). Though I loved Homeward Bound (the movies and the book the original movie was based on), I prefer to have my talking animal movies of the animated kind. Disney movies have done animals justice since Bambi. But I digress . . .

My point today is that I’m excited to see a new pet-centric movie coming out this August called Dog Days. Here’s the official trailer:

Here’s the roundup:
“Dog Days is a hilarious and heartfelt ensemble comedy that follows the lives of multiple dog owners and their beloved fluffy pals around sunny Los Angeles. When these human and canine’s paths start to intertwine, their lives begin changing in ways they never expected.”

I sure hope it lives up to it’s hype and the trailer. I’m looking forward to this one.
