My mom doesn’t get to travel much, but when she does her cocker-spaniel goes with her. Sometimes it’s not so easy to find a place to stay that allows pets. One of mom’s favorite desitinations? The beach. Why? She can rent a pet-friendly cottage.
But what if you’re traveling and need to book reservations along the way where you know you and your dog will be a welcomed?
You might try sites like BringFido.com. You can find a hotel by entering your destination, dates, and occupancy information and they’ll fetch some pet-friendly results, which just might save you a little trouble. I was perusing the site for ideas (since I’m not going to be traveling anywhere with my enterage of furry friends) and have to admit that the top 20 dog-friendly vacations was a lot of fun to see. Maybe that’s because out of the 20 popular pet places, 4 are fairly close by and I never knew they were “pet-friendly” destinations.
Their list includes:
- Asheville, NC
- Boston, MA
- Big Bear Lake, CA
- Branson, MO
- Chicago, IL
- Destin, FL
- Gatlinburg, TN
- Hilton Head, SC
- Key West, FL
- Lake Tahoe, CA
- Las Vegas, NV
- Myrtle Beach, SC
- Nags Head, NC
- Orlando, FL
- Pigeon Forge, TN
- San Diego, CA
- San Francisco, CA
- Santa Barbara, CA
- Seattle, WA
- Yosemite, CA

You may also want to book mark the new site PAW; Pet-friendly Accommodations Worldwide at http://www.luxurypaw.com for pet-friendly hotel searches. PAW exclusively features four-star or higher rated luxury, pet-friendly hotels from around the world. The site will be live after July 15, 2008. PAW is one of the only sites that lets the user search for luxury, pet-friendly hotel accommodations by pet weight restriction, which is a wonderful timesaver if you travel with a large dog!
Thank you, Janine.
I look forward to seeing (and perhaps reviewing) the site. 🙂
Hello:
Well the PAW site is live (although it is a “work in progress” as we are populating the database of hotels this week), I’d love for you to take a look.
Thanks,
Janine
