According to ASPCA statistics, approximately 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 3.9 million are dogs.
Of all those dogs entering shelters, approximately 35% are adopted, 31% are euthanized, and 26% of dogs who came in as strays are returned to their owners.
So if you’re looking for a dog to add to your family, why not consider adopting a dog?!
Head over to your local shelter or check out PetFinder. Did you know you can search for specific breeds on PetFinder? It’s true.

This is a great infographic.
I have shared it through my Facebook page. 🙂
Yup, we should adopt more dogs when possible.
My last 2 dogs have been “rescue” dogs. They have been great pets!
